I had the chance to experience pottery-making at Yakemegama, a kiln nestled on Nishinoshima Island. All materials are sourced from the rich natural surroundings of Mt. Yakega, with the clay body made from Oki’s distinctive red soil. It was my first time touching clay in nearly four years, and I was reminded how special it feels to create something entirely by hand—each piece with its own character.
